कहीं रंगे मस्ती न आंखों से झलके .मये नाब जिस तरह शीशे से छलके ..
है सीने मे यूं ज़ख्म खंदा हमारे .खिले जा बजा फूल जैसे केवल के ..
लगी झूमने शाख्हे  गुल मस्त होकर .सबा के जो झोंके चले हलके-हलके ..
क़दम डगमगाए कई बार मेरे चला ब्ज्मे साकी से मैं जो निकल के..
गुलिस्ताँ ने सीखी है कलियों से शायद .अदा दिल कशी की ये काटों मे पलके
करे फाश राज़े मोहब्बत न मेरा .मेरे अश्क दामन पे पलको से ढलके ..
मुझे देखकर "मस्त" सरशारे उल्फत .रहे मैकदे में सभी हाथ मलके..

my papa, late shayam lal varma alias 'mast allahabadi', was an urdu poet.his verses were
published in many papers.there are also two collections in book form.one, rang-e-masti,
is in devnagari script. the other one, chhalakte paimane, is in urdu script and was
awarded by the urdu academy.
some couplets:
i) mohabbat kuch kahe, khhuddariyan lekin yeh kaheti hain,
agar woh khhud nahin aate to hum lane kahan jayen.
ii) nasihat aapki hum naasahe mushfique kahan samajhe,
agar kahiye to kah den aapki khhatir se han samajhe.
iii) kahin rang-e-masti na aankhon se chhalke.
maye naab jis tarah shishe sechhalke.
